I see people online say things like “we need to hold each other accountable” and “I wanna save money.” There is a lot of what I want to do and a lot less of I am actually doing. I want to help make the process of doing better financially (with the help of some dope applications) easier. A lot of being good at handling your financial situation is knowledge. So here goes some of the best money apps n shit that I have continued to use over the last couple years.
The Best Money Apps N Shit
I have personally saved over $1200 w/ digit since April ’17 & all I had to do was sign up. Digit uses an algorithm that takes money you wouldn’t notice from your bank acct & saves it in a FDIC insured savings account.
You can withdraw the money & have it biz next day.

Although credit karma doesn’t give you your FICO score, their score and the apps other resources give you plenty of tools to work on, build, etc… your credit
Be weary of the promotions/suggestions for you to apply for credit cards, etc.

Self Lender is like a forced savings plan that helps you build credit.
You make monthly payments and they will report the payments to the major credit bureaus like a personal loan.
Once you have paid off the “loan”, you will receive all of the money.
A “$500” loan from self lender. Will report as a personal loan to the credit bureaus BUT you will NOT receive any money up front. You will make installment payments until you have “paid off” the $500. Once it is paid off, they will give you $500 because it is yours. Something like a forced savings plan that builds your credit.

Credit Union Bank Account
Yes, I know this is not an app, so it falls under the “n shit” category.
Open an account at a credit union. Do the bare minimum to keep the account open without any fees. This will save you in interest rates when it’s time to make major purchases such as a car. Credit unions typically can give a better interest rate on loans.
Keep 3 Accounts
[excluding the credit union account]
Bill account – deposit just enough to cover your bills with a slight cushion
example – if your montly bills are $1000 and you are paid twice a month. Deposit $550 each check into this account
Savings account – dedicate a minimum amount you deposit each check. I make sure I always deposit SOMETHING.
Spending account – deposit the remainder of your check after your other two account distributions
*Tip – have your direct deposit set up to automatically split your check into these accounts. Also, if you use one bank you can make transfers when necessary but do not link the debit card on your spending account to your savings or bills account.
**Tip – whatever is left in your spending account by the next time you get paid… roll it over to your savings
I know some people hate these but if you can get one through work and you job matches, try to contribute the maximum matching amount.
If your job matches 3% put in at least 3%. If you are comfortable on your income put in half of all raises into your 401k.
Everything is LITERALLY $3
Some groceries, household needs, office needs and more. If you spend over $30 shipping is free.
Coupons, coupons, coupons
In store and online coupons. I don’t make a single purchase without checking for a coupon first
Download their app!!!!!!
It’s like Criagslist but less sketchy annnnnnnddddd now you can buy things from people nationwide and it will tell you how much shipping is also!

Last but not least… Cash App..
Well because it’s easy to collect money from people.
Planning a group trip, paid for someone’s meal at a cash only spot and they only have a card, or let someone borrow money. Cash App makes collecting that money easy.
